Association of Blessed Word of Life Ministries International
Apostle Dekontee L. Johnson is the International Presiding Prelate/Bishop of the Association of Blessed Word of Life Ministries International (Asociación Ministerios Palabra Bendita de Vida Internacional), Inc. He pastors Blessed Word of Life Church, a bilingual - English and Spanish - Church located in northwest Washington, DC. He also ministers on radio on The Blessed Word of Life broadcast and can be heard in the Washington DC metropolitan area on WYCB Radio in English. Apostle Johnson also broadcasts on two shortwave international radio broadcasts, WWCR in English, Spanish, and French around the world, and on Radio Africa in English to West Africa.
He ministers on the first Christian bilingual television broadcast (English and Spanish) in the Washington Metropolitan area. The television broadcasts can be seen on DC Comcast Cable Channel 96, RCN Channel 11, and UHF Channel 58. He has also been a programmer on WPFW, a local community radio station, where he hosted a talk show entitled, "The World and You".
He was consecrated as an Apostle and received the apostolic impartation in 1983. He was consecrated Bishop in 2004, and has ministered locally, nationally, and internationally in Canada, Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Mexico, Vera Cruz, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, Chile, Kenya, and Peru.
He is a graduate of Texas Southern University, American University, and Howard University where he earned Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees. Apostle Johnson studied extensively at Universidad Interamericana in Saltillo, Cahuila México. He has also has post graduate studies for a doctorate of education at George Washington University. He served as an adjunct professor at Harvest Christian College in suburban Maryland. He has served his community as an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner and retired from the District of Columbia Public Schools where he was the Principal of Brightwood Elementary School.
Apostle Johnson served as interim pastor for two churches - Faith United Church of Christ and La Iglesia Primitiva Defensores de la Fe, a Hispanic congregation. Both are located in Washington, DC.
As a result of his ministry, over 50 persons have entered the pastoral ministry and many more are working as deacons, missionaries and in other areas of Church leadership. Currently, the Association of Blessed Word of Life Ministries International (Asociación Ministerios Palabra Bendita de Vida Internacional), Inc. includes over 200 Churches and individuals locally and internationally.
Apostle Johnson is supported by his wife, Prophetess Ayele A. Johnson, who pastors with him at Blessed Word of Life Church. He is the father of four children and two grandchildren. His greatest joy is knowing that Jesus Christ is Lord. |
